Rest

“But better is one handful with rest than two handfuls with hard work and chasing after the wind.” — Ecclesiastes 4:6

How often do I find myself chasing things that hold no eternal value? How often do I strive after what was never part of God’s design for my life? I can fill my days trying to do more, achieve more, and be more—yet still feel an emptiness, like I’m grasping at something that slips right through my fingers.

I love the imagery in this verse. It’s such a gentle but powerful reminder to live with an open hand—to make room for what truly matters. When my hands aren’t clenched tightly around everything I think I need, I can finally experience rest and peace.

There’s something sacred about slowing down. In the quiet, I can refocus on what’s truly important. And I can’t help but wonder how much I’ve missed in the past when both of my hands—and my life—were completely full.
