Casting our Net
“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.” — Psalms 55:22
Instead of panicking, I’m learning what it truly means to place my burdens into His hands. When I read this verse, I picture a fisherman casting a net into the water—releasing what they’re holding without knowing exactly what will come back. It’s an act of trust, of letting go.
God promises to sustain and strengthen us when we cast our burdens on Him. But I’ve realized something in the process: sometimes when I cast my net, it comes back full—He provides in ways that are clear and abundant. Other times, it returns empty. And there are seasons where I keep casting, again and again, and still feel like nothing is coming back.
In those moments, I’ve wrestled with the feeling that maybe God doesn’t see me or care. But recently, I’ve begun to understand something different—something deeper. A wise fisherman doesn’t stay in the same place when the net keeps coming up empty. They move.
Maybe an empty net isn’t a sign of God’s absence, but His direction. A gentle nudge that He still has provision for you—but it may not be where you’ve been standing. Sometimes, faith means trusting Him enough to cast… and also trusting Him enough to move forward when He calls you onward.
